By The Boutique collaborated with NASO Profumi, an artisanal perfumery, to find a signature scent encapsulating Abode’s essence and philosophy.
This partnership with NASO launched a new tailor-made fragrance for this stylish boutique property. Our vision was to distill Abode Bombay’s boutique identity into a memorable scent.
We understand how such sensory introductions set the tone for a wholesome guest experience. We embarked on this aromatic adventure to find the right scent accompanying guest experiences at Abode. A host of scent evaluations over multiple meetings boiled our choice down to a single, unified fragrance. Following this, our event took the form of a perfume-making workshop wherein we curated notes of this scent and allowed participants to design perfume blends. Everyone was allowed to play around with the proportions. As a result, guests were enlightened on the delicate art of perfumery.
This event showcased the nuanced art of perfume mixology, wherein scent enthusiasts activated their inner sensory prowess to test stunning olfactory experiences. Furthermore, we felt great synchronicity with NASO’s environmentally conscious ethos, reflected in their green perfume compositions.
Jasmine has long been used in Indian cultural rituals as a symbol of grace and celebrations. This fact ties back to Abode Bombay’s vintage aesthetic and Abode Sri Lanka’s fresh, celebratory aura. Keeping this synchronous relation in mind, NASO created a house scent that reminds guests of the familiarity of home–a graceful space that weaves memories into a journal of celebrations over time.
Choosing Basil Sambac—07 as Abode Bombay’s signature scent was a decision inspired by its sophisticated character. This fragrance combined the peppery freshness of basil with the exotic sweetness of Sambac jasmine, reflecting the heritage property’s dynamic and inviting aura. Rightfully, this iterative process struck the ideal balance to guarantee the scent was both welcoming and distinctive.
All in all, the event epitomized the essence of interactive and personalized luxury. Guests were also allowed to experiment with their own interpretations of Basil Sambac, blending their personal touches into small vials of memory to take home

Along with modern floral oils from Northern Africa’s Egypt and South-East Asia’s Indonesia, several materials are sourced from Northern Europe and, of course, our very own India.
What’s grounding is how the elemental base of all of NASO’s scents is the classic and natural Indian ‘Attar’. This attar is a distillate of baked natural ingredients like spices and herbs. Using this inspiration, NASO’s experts travel worldwide to source elements translating the airy whispers of top notes like mogra oil into tangible sensations. Whether the crisp freshness of citrus or the subtle sharpness of green leaves, each is chosen for its indulgent presence.
