Interior Design

Its four unconventionally designed rooms, which include three double bedrooms and one suite, feature original artwork, vintage furniture and organic cotton bed linen woven by local weavers.

Abode’s focus on sustainability is evident throughout the hotel, with rooms decked in locally designed wardrobes and decor, and artisan toiletries in the ensuite wet rooms. Nearly half of the wooden work involves local artisans and craft persons designing and creating the stand-out furniture and decorating the villa.

Architecture

Although the hotel was refurbished, it still maintains much of the grandeur of its original architecture and blends elegantly into the ambient landscape. The hotel’s design, carefully crafted with attention to intricate details, allows optimum sunlight into each space, and the villa remains cool and breezy, even during scorching afternoons.

The outdoor gym houses all the essential exercise equipment to support your well-being, that too amidst the charm of greenery and sweet bird songs. Also, the local yoga studio is within a walkaway distance if you prefer to start your day with a Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) pose.

If you decide to do nothing and choose a laidback holiday, expect to catch a glimpse of the swinging monkeys and kingfishers from the recycled teak loungers.

Culinary Offerings

The locally sourced tea, coffee and fresh coconuts with other Sri Lankan delicacies create a savoury breakfast experience. There are a multitude of breakfast choices, which include farm-fresh fruits, nutrient-rich smoothies, and warm crusty bread with generous portions of mouth-watering shakshuka.

Abode Ahangama’s lunch palette is a sumptuous affair with appetizing salads, freshly caught seafood, and sometimes tasty okra or egg hoppers. The hotel engages local farmers for food supply and gives back to its supportive community by employing locals in the villa.

You may not find a drink at the hotel, but you can always BYOB for a relaxing session overlooking the beautiful skyline of Ahangama.
