RAAS Devanya

Services

Deep in the Himalayan hinterland is a 90-acre eco-conscious residential community – Devanya. Devanya’s light carbon footprint, ecological sensitivity, and sustainability principles made them the ideal choice for partners for RAAS. Together, the hotel, RAAS Devanya is conceptualised to be a traditional manifestation of a Kumoni village. Deodar, oak and rhododendron trees surround this Villa In The Woods. And if the views alone don’t lure you, RAAS’s signature hospitality and gastronomic artistry will make the two-and-a-half-hour journey from Pantnagar airport entirely irresistible.

Design

Studio Lotus, the design firm behind Villa in the Woods, chose a saddleback ridge between Bhimtal and Mukteshwar as its canvas, raising the structure on stilts to preserve the delicate mountain ecosystem beneath.

Inspired by the traditional Kumaoni koti-banal style, the villa is crafted from locally sourced timber and stone, blending seamlessly into its natural surroundings. It’s almost as if Ambrish Arora, co-founder and principal architect of Studio Lotus, took the universal childhood dream of a treehouse and created a life-size version of that dream. Kalamkari paintings, Kumaoni motifs, rugs and carpets by Jaipur Rugs, artefacts and decor by Good Earth and Nicobar, and furniture by Mangrove Collective are proof that the classic treehouse fantasy has been elevated far beyond its humble beginnings.

Food & Drinks

The fully staffed villa offers a dining experience that feels both personal and deeply rooted in place. Expect a thoughtful mix of international favourites, hearty Kumaoni staples, and flavourful Rajasthani home-style dishes, each prepared with seasonal, organic ingredients.

Much of the produce and grain comes directly from Devānya’s own organic farms, while the rest is sourced from neighbouring farmers who share the same commitment to sustainable cultivation. Every meal is a celebration of freshness, from hand-picked vegetables and fragrant herbs to milled grains and cold-pressed oils, served in an atmosphere that makes you feel at home in the Himalayas.

Experiences

From leopard spotting in Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary to hiking trails that wind past rivers and waterfalls, the villa is a gateway to both wild and serene escapes.

Birdwatching around the property, guided walks through their flowering nursery, and a closer look at Devānya’s sustainable design offer quieter pleasures, while the ancient shrines of Kasar Devi, Jageshwar, Gananath, and Kainchi Dham lie within easy reach. All excursions can be arranged on request.
